PhD Position Available (Metamaterial Design)

A Ph.D. Position is available in the Simulation of Mechanical Systems Laboratory (SIMES-Lab) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The student will work on Numerical Methods Applied to the Design of Mechanical Metamaterials. Additional topics of interest can be found on our webpage www.simes-lab.com. The project requires strong computational skills and is expected to start in Fall 2023 (Deadline to apply: February 1st, 2023). The applicants must have a BS or a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a close discipline. Candidates with a background in Mechanical Vibrations, programming (MATLAB\Phyton), and numerical simulations are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in Finite Element Methods and/or Uncertainty Quantification (Monte Carlo Simulations/Sensitivity Analysis/Bayesian Inference) is a plus. In addition, the candidates are expected to have a strong academic record and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Rafael Ruiz (rafaruiz@umich.edu) with the following information:
