PhD Position Available (Metamaterial Design)

A Ph.D. Position is available in the Simulation of Mechanical Systems Laboratory (SIMES-Lab) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The student will work on Numerical Methods Applied to the Design of Mechanical Metamaterials. Additional topics of interest can be found on our webpage The project requires strong computational skills and is expected to start in Fall 2023 (Deadline to apply: February 1st, 2023). The applicants must have a BS or a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a close discipline. Candidates with a background in Mechanical Vibrations, programming (MATLAB\Phyton), and numerical simulations are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in Finite Element Methods and/or Uncertainty Quantification (Monte Carlo Simulations/Sensitivity Analysis/Bayesian Inference) is a plus. In addition, the candidates are expected to have a strong academic record and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
